I am a Canadian citizen and grew up in West Vancouver, British Columbia. English is my native language. I lived in Germany for 14 years and acquired near-native fluency in German. Additionally, I hold the following degrees:

  • Diplom Übersetzerin for English, German, and French, University of Mainz in Germersheim
  • M.A. in German, University of Toronto
  • B.A. in German, First Class Honors, University of British Columbia

Despite my fluency level in written and spoken German, I only translate out of German into English. Almost all the translations I prepare are into American English.

My career in translation started in 2001 as the in-house translator at the Administrative Headquarters of the Max Plank Society in Munich, Germany. Here, my translation work focused on research policy, press releases, and basic research but also on topics like higher education and HR including documents for the appointment of scientists to leading positions at Max Planck Institutes.

Since 2009, I have been working as a self-employed translator, proofreader, and editor in Ontario, Canada. Currently I live in Peterborough.
